The birth of Wikipedia was a very exciting time as we “the public” were given an opportunity to participate in something that has grown tremendously.

Today, we add our knowledge and facts to millions of topics, names and business that are listed on Wikipedia.

The basis of such public participation is what peeked my interest to this New Jersey Based Company.

Stumpedia is a social search engine that relies on human participation to index, organize, and review the World Wide Web.

Stumpedia does not depend on bots, algorithms, or company insiders to make decisions on the relevance and ranking of search results.

Stumpediaoffers a more transparent and democratic approach to internet search. Unlike Google etc, this means no arbitrary rankings or biases based on commercial concerns. It’s a welcome alternative, which puts 2.0 features to the forefront.

I think the public has demonstrated the ability to want to participate in certain websites where they have a say, and we are not talking about commenting on a blog.

Stumpedia is something we will continue to keep a close eye on. I think if the company can get enough traction and interest, they can be well on their way !!!
