As an entrepreneur myself and “the Editor” of GreatStartups.com, it is my jobs is to write about the good, the bad, the “not so good” and the ugly.

As many of you know, we receive a ton of companies that ask us to write stories. This particular company in my humble opinion did not “knock my socks off. ” However, I think Guidedmed.com deserves to have a mention here because their site does try to help people and I really think it expresses the true entrepreneurial spirit of trying to start/run a business.

Guidedmed seems like a micro WebMD.com, and please note micro is probably being more than fair. Guidedmed states they are based in a suburb of New York City and does not provide any further information about their business at this time.

GuidedMed is a guided health and medical information search engine. It is not a medical diagnosis or decision making tool. Their goal is to make health and medical information easily accessible to facilitate people’s daily lives. GuidedMed uses a questionnaire to guide your entire search process.

The user is shown a short questionaire symptom list containing commonly encountered symptoms. If you cannot find your symptom on the list, you can click the “more symptoms” link according to your affected body region to see a more comprehensive symptom list. From the symptom list, you can select one or more symptoms describing your health situation. Then by clicking the button entitled “Next step to find information about selected symptoms,” you will reach zero or more pages asking questions related to your selected symptoms.

I do think they are on to something if they can clean up the site and add more categories. It is easy to use and you just check off the boxes that apply to your potential medical problem or basic medical research.

Here is their website tour courtesy of a YouTube video. I must warn you, the audio is below par and hard to fully understand. Keep on plugging away Guidedmed, I think you may be on to something.
