In my Internet research on the various start-ups that come to our attention, I have seen almost everything. I am not sure however I have ever seen a website that has so intrigued and overwhelmed me.
Stavatti.com is the website for Stavatti Aerospace, a designer, developer and manufacturer of high performance aerospace vehicles and defense systems. The company produces new breeds of aerospace vehicles as well as superior weapons for the defense of NATO countries and other United States allies. Stavatti began as an aircraft manufacturer whose core competency rested with advanced fighter and special applications aircraft production.
The odd part about the company is that its website contains pages and pages of detail concerning its next generation military and civil aircraft, it also contains a bevy of information on its corporate structure and its plans for the future. The amount of information in the site is daunting.
According to the site, Stavatti has been developing the Machete family of aircraft to meet specific global and domestic air defense needs with the potential for over 300 orders within the next 3 years. The company states that the Machete family represents a significant paradigm shift in air defense which emphasizes an affordable, common solution to both light attack, close air support and continental air defense.
It is odd to see such detail on the website considering that the company is not public and the company obviously is not using the site to market its products to the public. The detail of the site is presumably to seek private investment funds, which would be a stark departure from the usual button down nature of the defense contractor industry.
Stavatti Heavy Industries, Ltd. is a privately held, Hawaii ‘C’ corporation. The company, Stavatti Heavy Industries, Ltd. (SHI) is committed to remaining a closely held, private corporation. SHI is the majority shareholder of Stavatti Corporation, which functions as a division of SHI.
It would seem that breaking into the defense business would be an impossible task without government backing or billions of dollars. Stravatti makes the case that due to dwindling government dollars that today’s defense contractors focus on “making what they sell rather than selling what they make.” Thus, the big contractors seek defense funds that pay for all stages of development. Stravatti does not compete for “dwindling” defense dollars. Instead, Stavatti’s solicits external, private sector participation to create the products both the United States and its allies’ need. Private investors, strategic partners and pooled investment vehicles finance Stavatti programs.
It appears there are many ways and many levels a private investor can get involved with Stavatti and it related companies. So if you are interested in the next potential baby Boeing or Lockheed Martin or are just an aircraft junkie check out Stavatti.com.
