There are several barter exchanges on the web such as OurSwaps.com where parties can exchange goods for goods by listing them on the exchange. SwapTree.com specializes in the trading of books, CDs, DVDs and video games and has been very successful. Many people use Craigslist for the purpose of trading goods and services (some services are more legal than others), but for the most part, barter sites trading in services are few and far between. The ones that do exist are so lightly trafficked as to make them unusable. Now comes Jobs4Trade.com, a Washington, DC company that aims to change all that.

Currently in beta, but set to launch in early September of 2009, Jobs4Trade.com is a social network for people to trade and barter services without necessarily involving money. The site also aims to focus on small business growth and development by providing a platform that allows for job posting, advertising throughout the site.

Jobs4Trade.com is not just for people with so-called trade skills. They encourage people to barter any serviceable task for which they are willing to trade including domestic services, typing, tutoring, babysitting, housecleaning, a ride to the airport etc.

Jobs4Trade’s goal is to use the resources available to people across the nation to streamline the antiquated business practice of bartering. The Internet has changed the world by providing an unlimited amount of information and by making it easier for people to communicate who otherwise would not have had the means to do so. Job4Trade.com wants to put these people together and let them engage in an economic exchange that can be more efficient exchange than simply cash for goods and services. They also hope that it is a great tool for a small start-up business to use. For example if they just purchased a new building that needs work.
