I can’t figure it out why some websites (and app) are not correctly displaying things when mullvadvpn is active. The one website (and only, so far) that is giving me problems is https://500px.com/ which doesn’t load pictures. Same thing with the app on Android. I’m using default settings and I’ve tried a bunch of servers, no fix so far.

Here’s another idea for you. Jump over to 500px.com and in the search area put 50mm 1.2 and look at the photos. Then change the search to 50mm 1.8 and look at the photos. Maybe add 85mm 1.8 and look at those too. Seeing the difference (or lack thereof) may be helpful. You can click into a photo and usually see the make/model of the camera and lens being used.

The images are “Second Life” CGI, and they are fairly disgusting to me as well. There are other photography sites: smugmug.com, pexels.us, pixabay.com, unsplash.com, 500px.com, shutterstock.com, etc. Smugmug is the only one that comes close to the searching you can do on Flickr.

I start with a map and look for State and National Parks. I Google them and look at images. I go to 500px.com and search on the names there and look at other’s images. It gives me some idea of the area and if it looks interesting.

.png files have worked best for me. But, you can also embed images from Flickr, which is legal as long as you don’t change the embed code: https://help.flickr.com/en_us/share-or-embed-flickr-photos-or-albums-rJBx6mjyX. Or 500PX another popular photo-sharing site: https://500px.com/. The quality of the web hosting should also be taken into account, use paid not free ones.
