Can anyone using WinRar discuss why they prefer it over 7-Zip? https://www.rarlab.com/ https://7-zip.org/.

Assuming you properly installed the VPK in VitaShell, and extracted the “retroarch” folder from the retroarch_data.7z file (using an archive management/extraction tool like 7-zip) and placed that folder in ux0:/data on your Vita….

The simplest is 7-Zip. Enable “encrypt file names” in encryption options. Where you need to upload multiple separate folders, it’s often more manageable than vault types, such as Cryptomator. Especially when manually uploading.

At any rate, from the data you provided, it does look like efibootbootx64.efi is missing from the NTFS partition on your media, so you need to validate that this file was both present on the source ISO (you can try mounting the ISO on Windows or open the .iso file with an application like 7-zip to look at its content) and that you don’t have something like an AntiVirus solution that may have decided to remove it…

Uninstall WinZip. Use the free and open source 7-zip instead.

7Z is 7-Zip a popular free alternate to winzip, you should be able to open the 7Z file with any archive program but 7-Zip is what I use.

Are you downloading/installing directly on the Deck in desktop mode or on another machine and transferring files via USB/uSD? If on the Deck, there’s already a tool installed, just use the Dolphin file explorer to find the 7z archive you downloaded, double click, and hit Extract in the window that opens up. If you’re doing it on another machine, install this tool: https://7-zip.org/ then do basically the same thing.

I’d recommend 7Zip, less annoying features than WinRar – find it here.

Download VLC media player and 7zip. These are two free applications that do a ton for your PC. Easy to google, but here are their sites just in case: https://7-zip.org/ and https://www.videolan.org/vlc/.

7-zip.org is a thing. One can still do business with them without allowing a zip TLD.

If there isn’t one on your computer already, I’d definitely recommend 7zip–it’s free and easy to use!

Yeah, just download the kernel, extract it (if on Windows, use 7-Zip), and copy everything to the root of your SD.

The file works fine for me. If you’re having trouble opening it because it’s an RAR file, you can unzip it using 7-zip.

It’s in a 7z archive so you’ll need to use 7-Zip to extract it (assuming you’re on Windows, on Mac/Linux you should be able to open it already).
