    • Anyone know some sites/apps where I could see all anime released in real-time?

I’m pretty sure most trackers have this functionality, I personally use anidb. Here’s a link to the current season and you can use the selector at the top of the page to switch to a different season.

    • Meta Thread – Month of July 02, 2023

Go to anidb.net and mess around with the advanced character search function. You’ll probably get a solid list (though obviously it isn’t going to be exhaustive). I could be wrong, but your request might also be what people refer to as “oppai loli”? Might be worth looking into.

    • Hard getting into anime and thinking should I?

There is definitely anime out there which is full of the stuff you are concerned about, but there is also plenty that has none of that. It’s honestly not that different from “regular” TV in that sense. You just need to screen what you watch, look shows up on anidb ahead of time, check all the tags and so on. They are really comprehensive about content tags, and that way you can avoid shows with all sexual…

    • MAL is down again..

I know I’m in the minority, but I really like anidb. It’s at its heart a database, so it’s comprehensive in terms of information which I find MAL often lacks. Cast, crew, music, etc is all really accessible, and tracking shows you watch is simple. It’s also not cluttered with things I don’t care about, there are no ads or links to random blogs or news articles or merch sites.

AniDB? Not sure if they have reviews there, I just know that’s one of the sites I always link to when hosting rewatches that you didn’t mention.

    • MyAnimeList has been hacked

If anything, for complete anime database (and basic comments too), use oldest, still working and the most complete anidb.net in the meanwhile.

    • Revy from Black Lagoon, Sugimoto from The Twelve Kingdoms, LJ from Snowpiercer, Villainelle from Killing Eve – characters in this mould ?

Try going through the tags on each character’s anidb.net page, and looking for characters with the same tags in the advanced character search feature.

    • An anime but just The elf interactions with uncle in the uncle came from another world anime

I think https://anidb.net is the most “detailed” site for that, but I mainly use https://anilist.co.

I’m not familiar with the Free! franchise, but you could try looking up the specific entry on anidb, I don’t think they list the full OST, but they generally list OP/ED/insert songs as well as some other tracks with vocals, character songs, etc.

    • How do I filter out anime with fan-service?

I don’t know about “filtering out” shows like in an automatic way, but you can just look up shows on anidb and browse the tags. They have tags for ecchi, nudity and an assortment of other content so you can avoid stuff you don’t want to see (or hunt down stuff you do). The tags have stars next to them too, so a show with just a little ecchi might have one star next to it while those that lean heavily into it…

    • So guys how many anime exist in total? Approximate number is more than enough

It’s literally displayed on the front page of anidb 🙂 their stats widget says 14100 anime, and that site is regarded as being pretty comprehensive. As another poster mentioned, it does depend a little on definition, because separate seasons of the same anime get separate entries. So you may think of Chihayafuru as being one anime, but anidb (and most of the major sites, I think) counts it as three.

    • Me and partner are aruging that Hikaru nara – iron goose (Your lie in april OP ) is in something elese.

For arguments like this, it’s anidb to the rescue. You can just look up the song Hikaru Nara and it will tell you all the shows it has been used in. Long story short you are correct, it’s only ever been used in YLiA, but now you can prove it.

    • is there any way to the soundtrack used in a specific episode of an anime?

You can look up the show on anidb, scroll down to the Cast / Staff / Songs tabs and select “Songs” to see what they have listed. Some anime might only have the OP/ED there, but more popular shows often have a pretty comprehensive list of insert songs and even background music, and what episode(s) each song appears in.
