Just started learning what is the better OS?

Use ubuntu or debian until you get comfortable. I recommend at lest doing this once when you have time and a free machine, it will teach you a lot. Eventually you’ll enjoy Slack and Arch installs a lot more than ubuntu and debain and mb BSD for some machines like your own encrypted cloud. Protip: Use Wikipedia to find the proper download links for distros and software.

There is also blackarch.org and blackarch.io, I really wonder if those isos cotain malware in some sort. Its funny that this tactic is even used on linux distros.

Viewing the list of blocked sites

I am studying in a very networking-restrictive(oppressive, if you will) college(where sites like twitch.tv, kali.org, blackarch.org, steam(basically anything related to entertainment), fandom wiki, and even chess.com is blocked). Outgoing ssh port 22 is blocked so I cannot ssh into any servers outside the university network. VPN is blocked but thankfully wireguard isn’t so I can bypass it.

Also, on the same day the best wishes blog post on blackarch.io released, the still active and rebranded official twitter account on blackarch.org posted the same message. blackarch.io is just an old domain.

Any help would be appreciated

I got an iso image (BlackArch Linux 64 bit Full ISO) dile from the official site (blackarch.org) and tried installing it on Virtualbox. Things seemed okay until I rebooted after the installation, but after reboot, it doesn’t boot and stops at “booting with the initial ramdisk”.

if you had to pick ten places to practice web hacking on, five that encourage hacking tools and five that don’t, what would they be?

About tools, I’d like to suggest two of my favourite pentest distibs: Parrot Security and Blackarch.

And as /u/win10-1-0002 said, running your own Honeypots are the easiest and fastest (legal) way to practice and learn by doing.
