Cryptee isn’t the only privacy-minded documents app. Turtl is a private platform built with a similar mission. It is currently free to use and, like Cryptee, it does not store user passwords or information and is protected by both your password and your cryptographic key. It is available on Windows, Mac, and Android, but not iOS.

    • Svelte Native: The Svelte Mobile Development Experience

      > The only major hurdle to this is Apple continuing to treat web apps as second class citizens on iOS If you add a site to iOS’ homescreen it automatically becomes a PWA. The best example I found of a site fully leveraging this feature is Cryptee[0]. They talk about the PWA thing here: https://crypt.ee/download [0] https://crypt.ee/.

    • Hard for me to trust UpNote

Well, then – if self hosting is not your thing – something like crypt.ee might be your thing? Clearly a different pricing model, data is fully encrypted, open source, across platforms.

    • Need suggestions for Free, Open-source, privacy focused diary/Journaling app?

      Crypt.ee

      Ticks 1/2/3/5 of your requirements

However free tier only has 100MB storage which might be enough for a journal, it also has the best rich text editor of them all, would highly recommend.

    • why do a lot of linux users hate Google and its products?

Use ProtonMail/Tutanota instead of Gmail. Use Brave Search (get familiar with their new “Goggles Beta” feature; it’s actually very cool and very useful) and Startpage search (gives you Google’s search results, but privately). Use Cryptee or Cryptpad for your Google Docs alternative. Get a Google Pixel 6a and flash CalyxOS on it. Use Brave or Firefox/Librewolf.

    • alternative to google photos

Agreed that self-hosting is the most private way but if that is not an option for you, try Cryptee (https://crypt.ee) It’s an encrypted wird processor (think GPhotos or MSWord) and Photos (beautiful minimal UI) and recently added support for videos as well.

    • Searching for Secure Note Apps

If you really value a polished web based solution you might consider crypt.ee (It works as a PWA) I’ve heard ppl say they like it (It’s looks like a hybrid cloud storage/document editor), but I don’t have personal experience with it. There’s a free tier with 100 MB storage, so you can test it if it looks interesting.

    • Is there a drive storage that don’t scan your files?? I’ve heard stories of google deleting drive files of some people because of copyright issues and it giving me privacy chills!!

If you’re a serious photographer, consider https://crypt.ee/. It is sort of like Google Photos, but everything is private and encrypted.

    • Does this notes app exist

I’d recommend https://crypt.ee/ You can use on all platforms, you can upload photos and videos. You can leverage ghost folders that will not appear unless you call them up, and the app is password protected. Its great.

In practice, you’re right, but as far as I know neither Google nor Apple currently provide that specific functionality. Have you looked at other options? Crypt.ee offers the functionality you’re looking for, and I think Sync.com does, as well.

    • Crypt.ee “Ghost” folders are still detectable!

Problem with crypt.ee is, if I make “ghost” folder and hide my files into that, is still possible find out, there are “ghost” folder with files. How? Remaining space! So you still can be forced reveal your “ghost” folder name.
