Why do Internet searches no longer work?

As an FYI, before DDG I used the search engine dogpile.com I just checked, the search engine is still up and it did not give me a lot of useless stuff when I searched for “soft soap with floating hearts” in quotes, of course.

Ha! Well, if it is a mod that was deleted after the update back in June then all you have to do is search the mod name to find the link for it and then add “?tab=files&file_id” after the mod number and search for that on a weird search engine such as dogpile.com and a link to the file will likely come up. Does this make sense? I feel like I’m awful at explaining things…

Oh wow Angelfire, that’s one I had forgotten! Geocities via Netscape Navigator, Angelfire, dogpile.com, Ask Jeeves!, HotBot, MySpace… AOL free trial disks, Prodigy, Compuserve… Ahh the early years of the internet, back when my kids were newborns/ toddlers. Such nostalgia. Except for the long distance phone bills due to AOL flash sessions.

OH RIGHT! DOGPILE! That was the one that we all preferred, but it was a smaller one than Jeeves was. XD Also, apparently could get you porn easier? My friend “accidentally” misspelled the url (I think it was dogpile.com?) and got to a porn site instead, on the school computers, and got into serious trouble. One other weird thing I didn’t mention is that it’s hard to find this and the links above on google, they come easy on dogpile.com, def looks like google is censoring “comirex”.

How was the Internet like in late 90s and early 2000s? What websites were popular at the time?

Dogpile.com was amazing back then though because it aggregated all the other search engine results. Sort of a super-search engine.

Other websites I remember that were popular back then were rotten.com for gore and dogpile.com for search. Some things you can’t ever unsee.
