Try donjon.bin.sh and whip up a quick level or two. You get to set the parameters for size, density, etc, and it includes descriptions. For a quick dungeon it is hard to beat. You can also print your map and a players map.

For dungeons I find a random map, using Donjon if I don’t find one that matches better, build and clutterify it in Dungeondraft, then import it to Foundry. I figure out the general types of monsters they’ll face there (these are ancient ruined labs, the monsters are mostly ethereal undead, abberations, and some constructs and elementals) then I sort through AoN for a while picking out interesting looking beasties…

This tool takes a randomly generated dungeon from donjon.bin.sh and turns in into nicely (as good as I can make it anyway) formatted homebrewery markdown. You then copy and paste the text into a new homebrewery document. It also attempts to add page breaks in logical places.

You don’t absolutely need the DMG, though it would be a wise investment if you’re going to play a long campaign. Ditto for the Monster Manual. The online SRD should have everything you need to start. Also, check out the 5e generators at https://donjon.bin.sh/ . You can fill in a lot of gaps with those.

Good monster books are always welcome additions to any DM’s library. I would recommend starting with the Tome of Beasts series and the Monster Manual Expanded series.
