A computer gamer will find a community at GameFAQs or IGN Boards for example. And you can have very specialized communities for example for a specific computer game series, or if you’re into Subaru Imprezas there’s a whole forum for that as well called NASIOC, and many other non-tech topics too.

NOW!!! Being a Pokemon game, I believe just using the Bulbapedia would help you A LOT.
Then I would add an script/dialogue transcription of the game (sometimes you can find them in the “good and old” Gamefaqs.

If you need help in the future, look up your game and then save file, gamefaqs.gamespot.com is generally the site you get them from, and use this: Save Converter to change the format, desmume always uses dsv files, and the most common is .sav or .duc so you can convert those to dsv there.

GameFaqs has always been an invaluable resource. This guide seems pretty comprehensive and was getting updates as late as 2016.

Maybe not for you. The internet most assuredly did exist at that time, as did the popular walkthrough site GameFAQs. We also had printers back then as well. It was a somewhat common thing for a kid to print out a GameFAQ guide, and in the process use up a bunch of ink.

I wanted to transfer PS2 game save files (.cbs format) from a site like Gamefaqs to the PCSX2 emulator on my Steam Deck. Sounds easy enough, and here’s a guy on YouTube telling you how to add save files to a virtual PS2 memory card using mymc but I encountered a few remaining obstacles:

I know not everyone got online at the same time, but Gamefaqs has been around for a hot minute, that’s all the access I’ve ever needed. They got bought by gamespot, but still do exactly what they’ve been doing for 30 years: free user uploaded guides. I found them in I want to say 2002? 2004?

I don’t know the answer to your question, but may I suggest using GameFAQs for a guide? One of my favorite parts of playing older games is going to GameFAQs for the old .txt walkthroughs. Really feels like a time warp.
