    • The Future of Thunderbird: Why We’re Rebuilding from the Ground Up

I love Mailspring, it’s modern and open source: https://getmailspring.com/ The UI uses Electron, but the actual sync engine is in C++, so it’s pretty fast.

    • linux: choosing a well-supported and future proof email desktop client?

Mailspring is quite nice. It also has a paid version and is actively updated so I think it’s likely to stick around for awhile.

    • Cross Platform Email Client

Mailspring, which is open source, is currently my recommendation for a desktop email client.

    • Which email client do you prefer and why?

Mailspring. Open-source and fully local, but an optional account and optional subscription for premium cloud-based features. Thunderbird was too cluttered and Geary, although I really wanted to like it, was just too minimal.

    • Show HN: Shortwave: Enjoy Your Inbox

There is mailspring which I have been using for some time – it has a nice modern interface which imho is much better than thunderbird as well as most of the web interfaces of self hosted email. Based on electron though, so ymmv. https://getmailspring.com/.

    • Future non-Gnome Pop_OS and core apps

I know for me there is one though it is not specifically “core” but kind of is in a way when you are using a desktop…namely email of all things. Gnome comes with the abomination that is Geary and that thing is way too under powered.
