    • QB desktop kicking us out

This question comes up often. I’m a fan of manager.io (it’s not as good as QBD, but for many folks it’s good enough). Another option sometimes mentioned is GnuCash, which I haven’t tried.

    • Make Your Voice Heard

I get your sentiment, but Intuit doesn’t care about the protest emails they receive. You don’t think they didn’t know there would be some response? It would be interesting to have been a fly on the wall with their conversations on this. The answer is to find an accounting program that works for you. It really is voting with your dollars. There have been many suggestions I have read. There is manager.io, wave,…

    • Accounting Software Recommendations?

Another route would be to try a local install of http://manager.io, but that’s a bit more web based and he might find it off-putting.

    • Quickbooks Desktop price more than doubled for 2023?

I’ve been shadow-bookkeeping using manager.io for 5 months now. Manager.io isn’t quite as mature as QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021 but for routine micro-business bookkeeping it’s just as good as QB. Everyone has different needs so manager.io may or may not work for you.

    • Opinions on excel book keeping

There are many, many things that Excel can do. Proper bookkeeping is not one of them. Do not do this. Normally I would recommend QuickBooks, but they’re being mega-douches with their price increases this year. But literally any bookkeeping software would be better than Excel. Manager (https://manager.io) is a new desktop option I’ve learned about recently. It’s free for basic stuff, give it a whirl. Or try…

    • What’s your recommended budgeting app? (2023)

Manager.io, it’s a free double bookkeeping accounting software the type that accountants use.

    • Quoting, sales orders, PO software

Maybe take a look at https://manager.io – It’s more on the financial end of things but I know it can do quotes and tie quotes/invoices/orders to customer & project records.

    • Quickbooks Elder Abuse

      (1) gnucash.org (free) – I haven’t used it. I would like to use it but it doesn’t appear to support organizations with multiple classes (QB terminology) or divisions (manager.io terminology).

    • Alternatives to QuickBooks

Does manager.io handle bank downloads and credit card transaction activity? That matters to me if I am going to test it.

    • Quickbooks Desktop 2023 Price Increases – Alternatives?

I do the books for several larger entities and I tried manager.io as well. The interface is simple and for my simpler entities it worked great. The thing that turned me off was the balance sheet–instead of totaling liabilities and equity, it totaled assets and liabilities to arrive at net assets, leaving equity all by itself. It’s not by any means incorrect, but it just feels silly, and I couldn’t find a way to…

    • Quickbooks Desktop 2023 Price Increases – Alternatives?

I’m bookkeeper for two entities, one simple and one complex. I’m currently experimenting with manager.io for the simple entity. The jury is still out on that, although I’m hopeful. If manager.io can’t handle the simple entity then I won’t even bother trying the complex.

    • Quickbooks for Mac vs…

      3) If QB2019 had better export, I’d have no problem moving to something like GnuCash, or perhaps this manager.io thing that I haven’t heard about until tonight. Or I suppose I could just start with 1/1/2022 and re-download transactions from the bank.

Https://manager.io is also nice, although perhaps targeted more towards small businesses.

Yeah I somehow mangled it while editing. I think I was recommending manager.io there.

    • Question—recommendations for replacement of Quickbooks

I’m a big believer in manager.io for some uses (I even made a video about it!) but we really need to know what OP’s accounting needs are before jumping to recommending a specific package.

I do the bookkeeping for two companies. I’ve started shadow-bookkeeping one of the companies in Manager (see manager.io). A discussion of the pros & cons of Manager vs. Quickbooks is out of scope for this thread. I’ll just say that Manager is a very interesting animal!
