  • Russian Security Council writes articles about the need for a nuclear strike on Europe

This threat fro the guy was a while ago. There was a good article about him a week or two ago at https://meduza.io.

  • Fascist nation supports their fascist dictator

    As I mentioned earlier – https://meduza.io

This source is in Russian/English only, and articles are being banned by government pretty often(but not always they have luck to) but it actually shows internal resistance and hate against terrorist government. And this portal is mostly about it.

  • EU guy here. What is the situation in Russia like now?

All institutions that could help the society express itself and get it to the general consensus, are intentionally destroyed. You know, as all dictatorships do. There is no press, no social feedback, no think tanks, no nothing. I guess, no one knows for sure what do people think. Right now Meduza (an anti-putin news site trying to look like an independent media) says there’s a “closed investigation” going on by…

  • Does Dylan have a man in the Kremlin?

Is there any other website reporting this except “meduza.io“? I’m pretty tired rn but can’t find anything else on it.

  • Does anyone else think it’s messed up that we’re still bringing in Russians to do our fisheries work?

If you’re interested in reading more about current event in Russia, Meduza is a good source. You will need Google translate to read it though. It’s an independent website that used to write about lots of different things, but now mostly focuses on current events. It’s been banned in Russia and keeps existing thanks to technically being located in Lithuania.

  • 60-80% of Tweeters posting on Russia-Ukraine war are bots, 90% pro Ukraine

That is why you don’t read news on Twitter. Read a (online) newspaper. For the war in Ukraine specifically: https://novayagazeta.eu/ https://meduza.io/ And if you are really interested in pro-Kremlin news try https://www.kp.ru/ All websites can be translated reasonably well with Google Translate. Medusa and Novaya Gazetta also do translate some articles to English, but these are always some days behind.

  • BREAKING: Deputies in St Petersburg suggest State Duma charge Putin with High Treason

If you are interested in independent russian sources, I can name a few:
    Meduza
    Novaya Gazeta
    Important Stories.

  • Russians conducted a poll in the occupied territories whether people want to join the Russian Federation: few are willing – Russian media

Even if I trusted meduza.io, I wouldn’t believe anything coming from Kremlin sources, anonymous or not.

  • Ask HN: Reverse Equivalents of RT News?

There are numerous Russian-language services such as VOA (already mentioned), BBC (https://www.bbc.com/russian) There are no independent Russian news organisations that I’m aware of within Russia any more. There are several operating outside Russia, notably Meduza: https://meduza.io/ (In English: https://meduza.io/en/feature/2015/02/02/welcome-to-meduza) Also the Russia Times:…

  • Russia is classified by multiple politologists as an information autocracy, which means that one of the main pillars and sources of power is propaganda. (6 slides)

So – to use an example centred around Ukraine – if you wanted to unseat Russian propaganda, I would argue the way to do it is to support Russian dissident media (example) that talk to Russians in Russian.

  • Value of Ruble -Why is no one addressing the elephant in the room

If you want economic analyses of the Russian state, go read economic analysts. I very strongly recommend dissident Russian-language media (although you’ll need Russian for that) – they disagree with the Kremlin but aren’t going to just repost bad Western takes.

  • “Meduza” Releases Critical Video Proving Civilians Killed in Bucha While russian troops were Stationed in the City

Banned by Russia. This is their website: https://meduza.io/.

  • End of the game

Peace to you as well. I hope you are doing what you can to spread the truth of what Putin has done to Ukraine among your fellow Russian sellers. Meduza is an good Russian-language news site.

  • Spreading real news into Russia

For what it’s worth, the dissident Russian-language portal meduza.io has given license to freely reproduce all their texts about the war in Ukraine (without photos). License is here.

  • How to donate to Ukraine if I am in Russia?

Meduza.io – possibly already blocked in Russia without VPN, independent Russian-language news that covers the war and isn’t censored by the government.

  • Spread the truth to the people via a popular Russian YouTube channel

Personally, I think dissident Russian-speaking media is likely to have way bigger of an impact than a random debate in YT comments. So texts from here (currently blocked in Russia but all of their content in on the conflict in Ukraine can be reproduced wherever you want – legally – they gave a license…) or this interview or something.

  • Russia, Blocked From the Global Internet, Plunges Into Digital Isolation.

Out of this list I can’t join only BBC one without vpn, others aren’t blocked. Most? No, it’s still not as common as I wish for a russian citizen to be able to speak english. Still, there are plenty of sites in russia like meduza which try to relay the real image of war and its effects. Ironically it was banned in russia recently and labeled “anti-russian”.

  • Announcement for protests in Russia

Independent news; none on TV. Typical scenario for independent news site looks like “1) it appears; 2) it becomes popular because it is independent; 3) it becomes less and less independent (e.g. It can publish some things that can’t be mentioned on tv, but some topics are forbidden); 4) it is closed”. I haven’t used them that much because I’m bad at spotting transition from 2 to 3. And since I haven’t used them…

  • Has your media reported on the destruction of Kharkiv?

I am Russian so I trust meduza.io and also I occasionally watch RTVi. Also there are some telegram channels, e.g. VPost (formed after acquisition by the state of vedomosti.ru news portal) or CITeam (a bunch of military experts who make fact-checking of viral videos of the war). Unfortunately the choice of independent sources goes narrower and narrower every day.

Reddit and other English-speaking sources aren’t dangerous to the narrative, I wonder why meduza.io is still alive.
