Loopback is fantastic software, but I think it’s overkill for what OP is trying to do. Rogue Amoeba also makes Piezo for simple audio recording from selected apps.

Take a look at Piezo (from Rogue Amoeba). It usually costs $20, but you can use it for free when making clips that last less than 10 minutes, which is perfect for audio flashcards.

Well, she unexpectedly found herself out of town with only her wife’s phone for a connection, and she didn’t have Chrome or the Riverside iPhone app installed. We were able to see and hear her, but Riverside wasn’t able record her side of the audio. Thankfully, I had bought a license for Piezo by Rogue Amoeba last week, so I launched it and had it record the audio from Chrome, and started praying it would work.

The simpler solution for your purpose might be Piezo which just grabs stereo audio from a single app and saves it into a file. That might be sufficient for your purposes, and it’s a lot cheaper.
