Alex then went online and did their own research. Alex preferred reading reviews by students and relied a lot on studentsreview.com and unigo.com. They then scored every category for a given school and the spreadsheet would calculate a score. I also suggested to Alex to disregard the names they had in mind and just read about each school with an open mind. The result was fascinating! This is what we learned:.

I personally go to unigo.com. It’s a website that has a feature where students answer questions about the typical students at their college. Here’s Cornell, as an example.

If Reed is a good match for your personality, it is a good bet Colgate will be trickier (but not impossible) to find your people. Where are you from originally? Are you near either? Where do you think you may want to be after college – much easier to be in the NE from Colgate and the PNW from Reed. Maybe check out reviews for both at places like unigo.com?

I hand picked these after reading from Fiske’s Guide, Princeton Review guide, reviews from students at unigo.com, and online about the colleges. After reading hundreds of comments about each college, you end up with a “feel” for what’s unique and what’s the same everywhere.
