Is there anything that proprietary software can do and has no open alternative?

Also Doom itself and various other ID games are fully open source. In addition there is another game, Warzone2100 was re-released as open source by the developers as well. I’m sure there are more games like these, but this all that comes to the top of my mind.

So I’m a big fan of SupCom 1 (couldn’t get into 2) and I’m wondering if there are any games that have similar gameplay but feature more realistic or modernist units. Something like Red Alert 2 or Generals but with SupCom’s engine? Thanks!

Don’t use the steam version it’s apparently a rip off /old port.

Looking for all action rts game.

I’m not sure how strong you want the squad concept to be, but Warzone 2100 has “assign to numbered groups” and “assign to commanders”, so there are squads. There is some building, and an energy budget, but those are a relatively small slice of gameplay. The game is free and open source. https://wz2100.net/.
